The Standing Order
A standing order is an instruction that keeps executing long after you have stopped thinking about it. This is the same arrangement, for gifts.
The Envoy sends one thing, once. A standing order sends on a schedule you set, for as long as you decide - every birthday, every anniversary, the first of December, the morning she turns twenty-one, once a year for the next twenty years.
You choose the dates and what arrives on each of them. The same letter, on the same date, every year. A gift at eighteen and a different one at thirty. Flowers on the anniversary of the day you met, delivered to the door for as long as the order stands. The money for all of it is set aside when the order is written, so nothing depends on anybody remembering, agreeing, or being generous later.
It sits inside the same construct as The Envoy. Outside your will and outside your estate, so no lawyer is ever told what it holds. Nothing to read, nothing to lodge, nothing to contest, and no one in a position to stop it. Where something has to be placed into a person's hands, our agents collect it and hand it over on the day named - not posted, handed over.
It ends when the schedule ends, or when you end it. Nobody else can.
Amend it, extend it, or cancel it any day you are here. After that it is beyond reach - beyond your family, beyond their lawyers, and beyond ours.
